Gear Review: The Best Maternity Leggings for Adventure Mommas!

Two years ago, I decided to splurge on a little holiday sale from an American-made company I found on Instagram and in turn found the BEST maternity leggings for my adventure-momma-ing! Arctic Lynx makes high-performance activewear and base layers for pregnant and postpartum women AND beyond! Boy can I tell you, these leggings have been my go-to throughout almost two pregnancies and the following postpartum season.

What’s to Love

The question really should be: what’s NOT to love?!

Here’s the scoop…they fit me perfectly, and that’s saying a LOT for a legging. You see, my shape is a little backward. With zero butt, large calves, AND large thighs, leggings usually fall off my hips and/or I cannot seem to stretch them enough to fit around my “muscular” legs.

Not these guys!

These are the best maternity leggings because I’m sure that they will fit whatever *unique* shape your body decides to take from pregnancy day one to beyond the fourth trimester. With some kind of magic, they mold (AND hold!) to my body without feeling compressive. There’s just enough stretch and enough support to wear them all day long.

Another note is that my second pregnancy has me shaped completely differently than my first. Most of the maternity clothes I wore last time are just NOT comfortable, leaving me at square one. Out of all the things from the last round, these leggings have not let me down: they still fit and feel amazing!

I’m also convinced that the maternity band could hold triplets if needed. It easily folds down for those early weeks, but extends BIG for those final pregnancy days you feel like a whale. My preggo belly tends to be tall and petite, but the extra stretchy fabric doesn’t feel like too much or in the way either.

What’s the fabric like?

These maternity leggings were definitely made with the active momma in mind as the poly/spandex blend allows for lots of movement, breathability, and quick drying. They feel silky and cool with just the right amount of protection. I quickly found that they were too chilly to wear on windy wintery walks in Utah winters but perfect for layering under another pair of pants for the extra cold days.

Because of their slimming construction, these leggings pair well under dresses, tunics, and skirts. The seams are very small and flat, making them one of the best maternity leggings options for layering.

How’s the sizing?

Due to gaining pounds by the day, I used to feel the need to go up a size when purchasing maternity clothes. But that’s not always the case, and especially with Arctic Lynx. These leggings run true-to-size, and that extra stretch helps too. I’m normally between a Small and Medium for pants (5’6″, 135#, no ass), and I went with a Medium. They were OK, but I quickly exchanged them for the Small. If you’re looking for the best maternity leggings that grow with your ever-changing body-building figure, these are the ones.

Do they hold up?

YES.

Like mentioned above, I have worn these through almost two pregnancies+ and the quality is unbeatable. Normally, synthetic layers will get a “pill” look with worn spots on your butt that nobody wants to look at, not these! I can honestly say that these might be the best maternity leggings based on this one fact alone: they look and feel the same as the day I bought them over 2 years ago.
